Over 150 guests reminisced and rediscovered happy holiday memories with a stay at Discovery Parks – Robe on Saturday 21st December 2019 to celebrate our holiday park’s 50th Birthday.

A very special event was organised to mark the holiday park’s half century and the big bash included everything you would expect from a milestone celebration – food trucks showcasing local produce, glasses being charged with drinks from Woodsoak Wineries and Robe Brewery, entertainment with live music, face-painting and bouncy castle, plus more!

The event was made extra special with the park’s original developer and owner, Daphne Klingburg, attending and having the honour of cutting the spectacular 2-tier birthday cake.

Other notable locals on the invite list included the Deputy Mayor of Robe, David Lawrie and the holiday park’s current managers, Helen Caunce and Andy Foreman.

The night ended with a bang worthy of a New Year’s Eve celebration with a fireworks display off the breakwater.

Three cheers to Discovery Parks – Robe, may the next 50 years continue to see the holiday park flourish. Hip hip hooray!

The Long Beach Tourist Park (as it was originally known) has come a long way from its first day of trade. Opened on Christmas Day in 1969, the holiday park consisted of 185 caravan and camp sites, 6 shack-style cabins and basic amenities.

Today, the holiday park has matured into an attractive destination suitable for couples, families, nomads and pets, offering both powered and unpowered sites as well as an array of luxury villas and cabins that sleep 2 to 6 people.

Ahead of the 2018 summer season, the holiday park opened 9 brand new waterfront deluxe cabins and revealed upgrades to 6 standard cabins, 7 economy cabins and the communal Camp Kitchen.

The park’s amenities have advanced too with ensuites, an indoor heated swimming pool, adventure playground, bouncing pillow, undercover BBQ facilities, an activity room with table tennis and games machines and, on-site kiosk.

Robe has always been a much-loved holiday destination for Adelaidians and those driving the Great Ocean Road. With more developments on the horizon, we’re sure future generations will continue to make happy holiday memories on the foreshore.
