Dog Friendly Accommodation For TOP Holidays With Your Furry Friend

For a really TOP family holiday, the whole family must be there. And that includes the four-legged members. Otherwise it just doesn’t feel right, right?

It can be hard to find dog friendly accommodation, but luckily we have over a hundred parks that welcome pets, spread across every state and territory of Australia! 

Here’s 7 of our favourite dog friendly accommodation options at Top Parks, so you never need holiday without your furry buddy ever again... 

Riverview Tourist Village, NT

Riverview Tourist Village is a 3.5 star park located just 4 minutes from Katherine, where “the outback meets the tropics”. 

The famous Hot Springs are located at the back of the park on the banks of the Katherine River. This shady, spring fed, thermal pool is an ideal and safe swimming area, great for soaking your tired muscles.
Take a cruise on Katherine Gorge, relax under the park trees with a cool drink, or take a dip in the pool. There’s also Katherine Low Level Reserve within walking distance, which is ideal for fishing and swimming. 

Quiet, shady, clean and comfortable, Riverview offers 111 powered and 25 unpowered campsites, all of which welcome dogs. 

Robe Lakeside Tourist Park, SA

Situated on the shores of picturesque Lake Fellmongery in the historic town of Robe, this pretty heritage park on the Limestone Coast of South Australia offers peace, shelter and grassy sights with friendly service.

Robe is situated only 3.5 hours drive from Adelaide and has beautiful beaches, quality restaurants, galleries and boutique shops. 

Indulge in local wines and fresh crayfish. Swim, surf, fish or go 4Wheel Driving. Dogs are allowed in the campsites and cabins of this park, so take your pick.

Dongara Tourist Park, WA

Located just 3.5 hours drive from Perth and with endless ocean views, Dongara Tourist Park is the ideal base for your surfing, kite surfing, fishing and swimming activities. 

The park has powered and unpowered sites catering for the largest RVs to small tents. Drive thru sites are also available for that overnight stop over. 

Relax with your pooch in the spectacular gazebo and BBQ area or explore the sights and smells of the marina, which is just minutes away. 

With a walking track to South Beach, it’s the ideal place to take your canine mate down to the sand and play fetch. A big jumping pillow is also on site to provide the kids with hours of fun.

Apex Riverside Tourist Park, NSW

With local events throughout the year, from the Forbes Camel Races on Good Friday to the NSW Small Winemakers Show in August, there’s something for everyone at Apex Riverside Tourist Park.

Located just 3 hours drive from Canberra, this park offers the tranquil surroundings of the Lachlan River. Come to enjoy the peace and quiet, or throw a line in. 

With four riverfront cabins, 45 powered and 15 unpowered sites, the good news is that your furry friend is welcome anywhere. 


Lake Placid Tourist Park, QLD

A Trip Advisor Excellence Award winner, you and your pup are in safe hands at Lake Placid Tourist Park.

With caravan and tent sites in a 14 acre tropical rainforest resort setting at the base of the World Heritage area of the Barron River Gorge National Park, you couldn’t give your family pet a better taste of Far North Queensland.  

Located just a short drive from Cairns city, the park is central to the main tourist attractions such as Skyrail, the Kuranda Scenic Railway and northern beaches, and is the perfect place for your family holiday.

Relax by the resort style pool, explore nearby by foot or bike, or take part in any of the weekly activities for guests during peak season; it’s a great way to meet fellow travellers.

Stratford On The River Tourist Park, VIC

The perfect starting point to visit the 'Lakes' and nearby alpine high country, Stratford on the River Tourist Park is a small, peaceful, family run caravan park just a 5 minute stroll from the centre of town and only 2½ - 3 hours from Melbourne at the beginning of the Gippsland Lakes region. 

With a range of accommodation to suit all budgets, guests can choose from large shaded powered sites, and budget through to superior 2 bedroom cabins. All accommodation is pet friendly and surrounded by 4 acres of gardens and parkland on the banks of the Avon River.

Unwind as you cook in the well appointed camp kitchen or undercover barbecue. Socialise at the open fireplaces. Watch the younger members of the family let off steam in the nearby playground.

For the more energetic, Apex Park is a short walk away and offers an array of medieval themed play equipment, walking trails and a BMX track for more “extreme” travellers.

Discovery Parks - Hadspen, TAS

Just 15 minutes from the beautiful city of Launceston is Discovery Parks – Hadspen, a “must” on your Tassie touring itinerary.

The peaceful South Esk River is a short stroll away from the caravan park, with wineries, national parks, and family attractions all close at hand. 

Before soaking up some culture at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, visit the stunning Cataract Gorge, beautiful gardens and resident peacocks in Launceston. Explore Narawntapu and Mt William National Parks, take a Tamar River Cruise, and taste your way through Tasmania’s oldest wine region, the Tamar Valley.
